Equifax Catastrophe! Are you at Risk? Learn How to Protect Your Financial Future

CEO Rick Smith retires

On September 7th, 2017, the Equifax CEO Rick Smith announced that cybercriminals have accessed the company computer system and stole 143 million records. if you have a Social Security Number (SSN), there’s a good chance that you are one of the 143 million American consumers whose sensitive personal information was exposed during this disaster at Equifax, one of the nation’s three major credit reporting agencies.
According to the CEO, Rick Smith, the breach lasted from mid-May through July 29. The hackers accessed people’s names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and, in some instances, driver’s license numbers. They also stole credit card numbers for about 209,000 people etc. Furthermore, the company reported that the criminals also stole Personal Information of people in the UK and Canada, but no details were disclosed.
The next 3 to 6 months are critical for the US population, employees, employers, business owners, professionals to protect themselves and their families against Identity Theft, Fraud and cybercrimes. Three weeks after the initial public disclosure of the breach several facts are very questionable:
  1. Equifax took more than a month to disclose the breach discovered on July 29
  2. Three Equifax Executives sold $2 million worth of company stocks just days after the discovery of the breach on July 29. (John W Gamble, Joseph Loughran, and Rodolfo Ploder).
  3. Equifax admitted under pressure from the media that a previous hack took place in March and was not disclosed to the public.
  4. CEO Rick Smith retires on Sep 26...
